If you or your child has been diagnosed with diabetes, it might feel overwhelming. There is so much to learn, so much to do there are so many questions, so many different emotions and it might feel that your life has now changed forever.
In this difficult time, it is important to remember that you are not alone. We are here for you, and there is a lot of information available to help you understand your diagnosis and people who can help and support you.
Diabetes Ireland is your place to find everything you need to gain a deeper understanding of how to live with diabetes. The more you know about diabetes, the better care of yourself you can take, so read information about your specific type first:

Your diabetes team is there to help you. Depending on your needs and type of diabetes, as well as the resources available in your community, your team may include a GP and practice nurse, diabetes educator (diabetes nurse specialist, dietitian), consultant endocrinologist/diabetologist, psychologist, social worker, podiatrist, pharmacist and more. All diabetes team members can answer your questions about how to manage diabetes and work with you to help you self-manage this condition.
