How we help

Connect with others through local branches and support groups to share experiences, learn from peers, and build a strong sense of community.

We offer a wide range of programmes such as CODE Programme, Diabetes SMART and Wellbeing Workshops.

Our website, social media channels, webinars, conferences, and Diabetes Ireland magazine provide up-to-date advice and tips to help you live well with diabetes.

Working with you, healthcare professionals and politicians to improve diabetes care in Ireland and prioritise better care and outcomes for all.

Our impact

We are a national diabetes charity established in 1967. The main aim of the organisation by the time was to make sure that people with diabetes do not have to pay for medicines and that diabetes is included in the Long-Term Illness Scheme.

Since then, our work impacted thousands of people with diabetes through diabetes education, awareness campaigns, conferences and peer-support, research and individual and national-level advocacy  all to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes.

  • Diabetes medicines included in the LTI scheme
  • National Diabetes Strategy
  • Structured diabetes education for all
  • Diabetes technology for those who need it
