Our Diabetes Helpline provides trusted, non-clinical information and support for people living with diabetes, their families, carers, and those who may be at risk of developing the condition.
We offer guidance on all aspects of managing diabetes and direct individuals to relevant resources, including HSE and Diabetes Ireland’s structured education programs, dietary and physical activity advice (both online and in-person), and educational literature. We also assist people who feel they may be experiencing discrimination due to their diabetes.
The Helpline serves as an educational resource for healthcare professionals, including GPs, pharmacists, and diabetes clinic staff, helping them better support their patients. Additionally, we refer clients to other necessary services, such as Diabetic Retina Screen.
While our website provides a wealth of information, our helpline team is ready to assist with a wide range of topics, such as:
Some people simply reach out to talk through their feelings or concerns, and we’re here to listen.
Through our Helpline, individuals with diabetes can receive accurate, trustworthy information and be directed to valuable HSE and Diabetes Ireland resources. We encourage diabetes healthcare providers to refer their patients to our helpline for ongoing support, education, and guidance as they adjust to their diagnosis and learn to manage their condition effectively.
